Thanks to you, our AMOS scholarship program, Seeds of Esperanza, is bringing so much hope, happiness, and fulfillment to its beneficiaries. Because of your support, the program has grown and is currently providing scholarships to 9 active community leaders!
Aida María Martínez is from the community of Banco de Sikia, located in the South Caribbean Coast Region of Nicaragua.
Aida is a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Promoter and a Health Committee member in her community.
She is also a current recipient of a “Seeds of Esperanza” scholarship, studying Agricultural Engineering. Recently, Aida shared with us:
“I have two favorite classes in school: seed management and farm planning. I like seed management because I’ve learned how best to handle basic grains for production, commercialization in my community, and my own consumption. I also like farm planning because I’ve learned how to make a production unit plan, and monitor and analyze income and expenses, which will set me up for success in the future.
“I have experienced some challenges this 2021. One has been COVID-19, because due to the pandemic, many of my classes are not taught in person, which is difficult. Teachers have to teach fewer hours in person due to COVID prevention measures, so a lot of the learning is the student’s responsibility.
“But, I take this responsibility very seriously, because I am very grateful to AMOS for the support you all give me! Thanks to you, I am able to finish out my senior year of Agricultural Engineering, and I know I will succeed in this career. Thank you so much!”
