Juan Pablo, a farmer from the rural community of Rancho Alegre, in the mountains of Matagalpa, has spent the past six years serving as a dedicated community health volunteer. But he doesn’t serve alone; his entire family is part of his mission.

Juan Pablo, during a workshop on safe family planning.

This month, Juan Pablo attended a community session on family planning, one of many trainings he has joined to better care for his neighbors. His words stayed with us:

“A baby shouldn’t be raising another baby. When a 13-year-old girl has a baby, not only is she not ready to care for it, but it also puts a burden on the grandparents.”

Juan Pablo is raising awareness about reproductive health and fighting generational cycles of poverty and inequality. His daughters are also active community health volunteers, helping to ensure that young women in Rancho Alegre understand their rights and possibilities.

Because of you, this family can share knowledge, offer hope, and create real change.
