Who We Are

Everyone deserves to have health and hope. Since 1967, Dr. Gustavo Parajón cast a vision for reducing preventable deaths and improving the health of people who suffer from poverty in rural Nicaragua. AMOS continues to grow our programs using models that empower local leaders to build upon community strengths and respond to community-identified needs.

Poverty makes access to essential medications and health care very difficult and contributes to high maternal and infant death rates. Through our programs, we bring health and hope to 74,600 people in 25 vulnerable communities in six regions of Nicaragua.

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing staff, board, health promoters, health educators, and all of the volunteers and community members who serve alongside us in health and hope. Meet our team!

Through partnerships with communities, churches, individuals, and other organizations, we work alongside vulnerable people to create a world where no child dies from a preventable disease.

Our work depends on the generosity of hundreds of individuals, foundations, churches, universities, organizations, and corporations. And by publishing the results of our work, we aim to transform the future of community health around the world.
