The first time Rosa saw her baby during a free ultrasound at Villa Guadalupe Clinic, something inside her shifted forever.
As the image appeared on the screen, the doctor gently pointed and said:
“Here’s the body… and here’s the head.”
Surprised, Rosa looked up and asked, “It already has all of that?”
The doctor smiled and replied, “Yes, your baby is already complete.”
Rosa couldn’t stop smiling. When she heard the steady rhythm of her baby’s heartbeat, it was as if something clicked. She left the clinic with joy in her heart—and returned shortly after with her cellphone in hand. She wanted to take a photo of the ultrasound. She wanted to carry that moment home with her.

Her pregnancy was unexpected. Rosa and her partner, both very young, hadn’t planned to become parents yet. Still, they’re happy about the baby. But their joy comes with real challenges—especially financial ones.
That’s why Villa Guadalupe Clinic has become so meaningful in their journey. The free, high-quality care Rosa receives isn’t just a relief—it’s a lifeline. It allows this young couple to prepare for their child without the crushing burden of medical expenses they cannot afford.
And Rosa isn’t the only one who feels this way. Her mother and sister also choose to come here—even though there’s a public health center nearby. When asked why, they give a simple answer: “Because we feel safe here.”
At Villa Guadalupe Clinic, patients are treated with kindness. Their questions matter. Their dignity is protected.
This is what compassionate health care looks like.
And it’s made possible by people like you.
For more than 15 years, AMOS Health & Hope has supported vulnerable communities in Nicaragua. We believe that everyone deserves to have health, no matter where you are born, no matter where you live.
But we cannot do this work alone.
