Read below a testimony from Bruce Van Der Beek, a member from the 52 Weeks of Hope Club who was recently in Nicaragua!
I recently completed the 10-day AMOS Mission Experience. A team of delegation volunteers, plus AMOS staff and IM Global Servant Christy Lafferty traveled from Managua to the communities of Banco de Sikia and Nawawasito in the RACS of Nicaragua. As a 20+ year volunteer to AMOS Health and Hope, members of my church often ask me, “What are you going to do?” I answer “I am going to form and renew relationships. What we ‘do’ occupies our hands while we build and strengthen those relationship bonds.”
I was privileged to know the late Rev. Dr. Gustavo Parajon, a pioneer in health care in rural Nicaragua and one of the co-founders of AMOS. Gustavo was a man of peace, having worked with resolving conflict during the 80’s. Dr. Parajon stressed that God loves Justice, which includes economic issues. On my most recent trip, we carried on that tradition and by having our team provided water filters for 52 vulnerable families; teaching young children about dental and personal hygiene; and making AMOS clinic building repairs. At the end of the trip, we had a very meaningful closing time with many local community members, AMOS staff and our delegation team allowed all to express their gratitude and joy for what God had done during our time together.
I have been an “AMOS Monthly Donor” for many years. This experience has reinforced my passion for supporting AMOS. I have seen again the work they do, the concern for all, and the love shown is having a significant impact on the lives in the communities they serve. On my way home, I thanked God for providing me this opportunity to serve on my 10th short-term mission with AMOS.
Please join me in a regular financial commitment to allow AMOS to continue to walk alongside the most vulnerable in Nicaragua!

It was such a joy to serve alongside Bruce earlier this month and share with him about the work we do thanks to his continued support.
We are planning on having another AMOS Mission Experience next year and would love for you to join us! Stay tuned!
